More and more people are becoming aware of what is being called the Glycemic Index. It is a rating of foods from 1 to 100 that tells you how fast these foods are digested. The lower the number the better for you. It refers to the carbs in foods that turn to sugar once eaten. When it has a high number you don't feel full as long and it spikes your blood sugar very quickly. You don't have to be diabetic to benefit from following this chart.
When you eat the low numbered foods, it takes longer to digest and you don't eat as much because you feel full longer. It's better than skipping the carbs altogether, because you are still getting them from the low numbered foods. People who follow this chart are loosing extra weight and are able to keep it off. Beside that they are able to keep away diabetes and heart disease.
